Let me introduce myself

My name is Laura Costa, and I was born in Barcelona. I have been working in the fashion world for more than thirty years. I am a designer, personal image consultant, personal shopper, stylist, and make-up artist, as well as a teacher and trainer for companies.

For fifteen years I have had an office in Barcelona where I offer Image Consulting and personal shopper services to private clients, and corporate image consulting to companies. In addition, I have made presentations at the University of Barcelona, done image workshops for cancer patients at the Hospital Duran y Reynals, and I have collaborated as a speaker, developing training programs for various companies such as: Opticalia, Swarovsky, Natura Bissé, and Concep, among others. I have also worked as a teacher at the Escuela Guerrero and the Escuela Superior de Protocolo y Relaciones Institucionales, located in Barcelona. In addition, during this last year I have taught a course on personal image consulting in styling for vocational training teachers of the Department of Education of the Generalitat de Catalunya.

I collaborate periodically in Channel 4’s television program “Sense Control”, presenting the fashion and personal image section.

I have also been practicing yoga for twenty years. I started with Hata yoga, and later on I was inclined towards the practice of Kundalini yoga and meditation. Six years ago, I was officially certified by AEKY and KRI as a Kundalini yoga instructor and as a teacher of laughter yoga by Laughter Yoga International University.

I am certified by the Generalitat of Catalonia in Teaching Qualification and Comprehensive Personal Image Consulting, with recognition from the Government of Spain and the European Union.

Accreditation of competency units in Comprehensive Personal Image Consulting:

Advise on your personal image, through the care and aesthetic transformation of hair and facial hair.
Manage the activities carried out in personal image companies.
Conduct a personal image study to propose personalized change projects.
Advise on changes in your personal image through aesthetic treatments.
Advise on changes in your personal image through clothing and accessories.
Provide advice on protocol and social customs related to personal image.
Provide advice on communication techniques related to personal image.
Perform aesthetic hair treatments under safe and hygienic conditions.

Accreditation of competency units in Clothing and Fashion:

Recognize raw materials and products for clothing, footwear, and leather goods.
Joining pieces of fabrics and laminates.
Joining pieces of skins and leathers.
Finishing textile and leather pieces and accessories.
Perform special finishes on items and parts.
Prepare materials, tools, machines and manufacturing equipment.
Perform cutting and coupling by hand in custom-made clothing.
Perform machine coupling in custom-made clothing.
Perform the finishing of custom-made parts and articles.
Assist the client in costume making services.
Perform cutting operations.
Perform operations complementary to cutting.

More about me

I was born in 1970

“I consider myself a proud fifty-something.”

Yes, I’m already 54, and I say it with pride!!!! During all these years, I have lived every minute intensely, and although life has not been easy, it has given me great lessons.

My professional origins

“My experience is my guarantee.”

I started when I was 18 years old, working in my family’s haute couture workshop. I studied design, pattern making, and scaling, and I learned the whole process of creating a garment, as well as sales customer service. At the age of thirty-two, I created my own clothing company under the name of Laura Costa Barcelona, selling throughout Spain. Seven years later, I trained as a Personal Image Consultant, Personal Shopper, makeup artist, and visagisme specialist.
The previous experience of many years in the world of personal image and fashion helped me immensely, and since then I’ve worked in personal and corporate image consulting.

I am a Kundalini, Yoga and meditation teacher.

After twenty years of practicing yoga, seven years ago I trained as a kundalini and meditation teacher. This experience has taught me to grasp beyond what we can perceive with the senses. This helps me to understand and empathize with my clients, to establish connections of deep understanding.
In my sessions, no one is ever judged. I understand that we are all different. I have a deep respect for every human being.

I love challenges

I believe in self-improvement. Challenges show me that anything is possible if you can push the limits of the mind. Every client is a challenge, a story, a concern, and for me, a new mission.

I consider myself a creative person

I am creative in any action in my life, I can’t help it. I like to experiment with other ways of doing the most usual things: cooking, painting, writing… That creativity, of course, I also transfer to my professional area when I write reports, create outfits, prepare presentations for companies, etc.

I need contact with Nature

“The sun, the sky, the sea and contemplation renew me.”

I need contact with any element of nature for my inner balance. I am a big fan of gardening, and I love animals. This aspect influences my work, so I avoid any operation or invasive aesthetic treatment, and I always go for the natural.

I have two children

“Being a mother allows me to see life through another window.”

I have two children, from two different marriages. They are the ones who keep me grounded, who put me where I need to be, and from whom I learn the most valuable lessons every day.
Some of my clients are teenagers. Having children helps me to understand and offer the most accurate advice to my youngest clients.

Two countries that are important to me: Morocco and the United States.

My husband is American, and my second son was born in Morocco. At home, we speak Catalan, Spanish and English. I feel fortunate to have formed an open-minded, multicultural family.
This has allowed me to keep abreast of trends across borders and new methodologies to update and adapt myself at all levels.

I like to experience

Yes, whenever someone offers me a collaboration, I find it difficult to say no. In other words, I’m up for anything, or almost anything! I was offered the opportunity to participate as a collaborator in the fashion section of the SENSE CONTROL program, and without hesitation, I signed up. I’m fascinated by improvisation, theater and acting.

I feel the desire to teach

My first contact with teaching comes from yoga and meditation classes. Thanks to this beginning, I feel the desire to share the teachings I have learned from my own experience.
